My beauty routine before I go to sleep

 

 

To look fabulous and flawless during the day, you need to treat your skin right at night. Right!  It’s common knowledge that going to bed with makeup or without washing one’s face is a big no-no! And if you have sensitive and acne-prone skin like me, it causes clogged pores, bacteria buildup, and a whole host of skin issues. My night time skin care ritual can never be an ‘option’ no matter how tiring or exhausting my day has been. A few simple steps keep bad skin at bay and help me wake up to glowing and relaxed face.

 

 

#1. Cleanse and wash

This step cannot be stressed upon enough! I generally use a good cleansing milk to take off foundation, blush, lip color and lip liner. If I’ve run out, a moist towelette with a dab of moisturizer will work just as well. For eye makeup, I’m a lot more careful. Many waterproof mascaras and liners do not come off easily. I use a small ball of cotton dipped in olive oil or coconut oil to get rid of that persistent long-lasting make-up.

When I’m done, I wash my face with a gentle soap-free cleanser and pat dry with a soft clean towel.

 

#2. Steam or apply a pack

If I have the time for a little something extra, I set the steamer on whilst I clean and dry my face. Steaming once a week can help push out impurities from pores, leaving my face clean and germ-free.

If my skin has been feeling particularly dry or tired, I switch out the steam for a hydrating pack. And while I’m at it, I have a relaxing soak in the tub with plenty of bath bombs and salts to enhance my DIY spa!

 

#3. Tone and moisturize.

On nights that follow a long work-day, I may not have the energy to steam, soak, and spa. But cleaning my face and massaging in some moisturizer is never skipped! Nights like this deserve some pampering and I bring out my favorite aromatic cleansers and toners. After toning, it’s time to lock in all that moisture to keep my skin plumped and hydrated.

Now that my face is taken care of, the rest of me gets attention too! Starting from scrubs for my aching heels, to hand and nail creams for my fingers, I make sure that my skin is provided the care it needs to start its nightly repair.

To wrap it all up, a flourish of a yummy lip butter, keeps my lips kissable and soft!

 

#4. Sheet check.

This may seem trivial, but I always make sure I sleep on clean sheets and pillow covers. Tiny dust mites thrive on dead skin cells that accumulate every 3 to 4 weeks. Putting a fresh towel on my pillow each night ensures that no dirty surfaces come in contact with my skin.

Following this nightly regimen I always my feel invigorated and refreshed when I wake up to start a new day, every morning!
